Penny trained as a registered nurse at St Thomas' Hospital in London. She then had a nursing

career of over twenty years, which included working in the specialties of women's health,

community and palliative care. During this time she gained a variety of experience and

qualifications, including teaching and assessing in health care, pain and symptom control,

counsellings skills, a diploma in Health Care Practice and a BSc (Hons) in Palliative Care.

Having developed an interest in complementary health care, Penny attended the Foundation

Course in Acupuncture, held at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London, by the British Medical

Acupuncture Society. This was then followed by a three year course at Salford University to

gain a BSc (Hons) in Traditional Chinese Acupuncture. Penny has also undertaken a post

graduate course in acupuncture at the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in

China.
