Health and healing are only Two Feet away.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a method of bringing about relaxation, balance and healing through the

stimulation of particular points on the feet, or sometimes on the hands. Helping to heal the

whole person and not just the prevailing symptoms.

Reflexology finds its root in Ancient Egypt, India and China. In 1913 Dr William Fitzgerald, an

American Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist, introduced Zone Therapy to the West. He noted

that pressure on reflex areas on feet and hands link to organs and other areas of the body

within the same zone.

Eunice Ingham developed and mapped out the entire body onto the feet, developing this

theory into Reflexology as it is known today. The body has an ability to heal itself. Reflexology

encourages the body to work naturally, helping to maintain natural equanimity.

How does Reflexology Work?

Each part of the body has a corresponding reflex and any imbalance in the body may be

mirrored in the feet and hands. This congestion may be due to blockages in the body’s energy

pathways which may result in illness. Removal of blockages enable nerve impulses to travel

freely along energy pathways. It is suggested that this enhances the process of self healing

naturally, allowing the body to restore its own healthy balance.

A Reflexologist stimulates over 7,000 nerves when touching the feet, clearing and opening the

neural pathways. By gently massaging these reflexes, calcium and crystal-like deposits may

be removed, toxins and waste products eliminated, via lymph, blood and nerves, improving

the circulation and the body’s natural flow.

Reflexology has been shown to be effective for:

    * Deep relaxation

    * Improved immune system

    * Balance – well being

    * Elimination of toxins

    * Skeletal and muscular pain

    * Digestive disorders

    * Blood pressure, circulation

    * Asthma, sinusitis, hay fever

    * PMT, menopause, prostrate

    * Stress, anxiety, insomnia

    * Cystitis, kidney problems

    * Skin disorders

    * Recovery from illness and injury

While many people use Reflexology as a way of relaxing the mind and body and counteracting

stress, at the same time many doctors, consultants and other health care professionals

recognise it as a well established respected therapy.

A course of treatments vary, depending on your body’s needs.

After treatment your body may experience changes or reactions, feeling of well-being and

relaxation, lethargic, nauseous or tearful. All are natural and important information for

Reflexologists, showing how your body responded to treatment.

Relax and let your body heal itself. Take time for yourself and avoid stressful situations.

Treatment takes about one to one and a half hours and a course of treatments vary,

depending on your body’s needs.
